31 Day Challenge: Day 26 Inspired by a Pattern

 

Aloha everyone! Today's pattern was created by my -House of Parliment- magnetic polish by Nails Inc. London

The magnet for this polish is quite strong, but I actually used a magnetic top from a different polish (Icing's) because it gives me two design options. A horizontal one and a vertical one. I really like the vertical one and I hope you do to.

31 Day Challenge: Day 25 Inspired by Fashion

Why is acid washed clothing coming back into fashion? I don't know, but I've been seeing it every where lately. Cut off jean shorts, vests, jackets, purses, jeans...you name it. I think it's hilarious!  I remember when my older brother would rock a pair of stoned washed jeans with the tapered bottoms which he would roll up. Who knew that would come back into fashion? I guess fashion really is cyclical. What's next? Permed hair? Please say it isn't so...lol 
For this fashion inspired mani I used the saran wrap technique over 4 different shades of blue and finished it off with a matte top coat.

31 Day Challenge: Day 23 Inspired By a Movie

 

Hi Hi! Today I have a mani inspired by the movie The Devil Wears Prada. What a cool movie starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Strepe. It doesn't matter how many times I've seen the movie I still think it's good. The Coco Chanel logo was inspired by designer clothing worn in the movie. I had big plans for my index finger to stamp a devil's tail, but my stamping plate and scrapper just weren't cooperating with me. Boo and hiss I tell you....therefore I attempted to do the lettering of the movie title. Emphasis on the word attempted. ah ha ha. If I didn't have to work early tomorrow morning I would have tried to fix it ... but my pillow is calling my name. Good night, See you tomorrow for the inspired by a book theme.

31 Day Challenge: Day 22 Inspired By a Song

Today's nail challenge is inspired by a song. F to the E, to the E-R-G-I-E. Can you guess which song I chose? haha  Today I am paying homage to Miss Fergie because her style is always on point and her nails never disappoint.  In her video for Fergalicous she has a domino manicure that had me reaching for my remote control to so that I could hit pause. I was mesmerized by her nails, and ever since then I've wanted to recreate her manicure. That's why I am really excited today's theme. I hope you find them fergalicious ;)

31 Day Challenge: Day 20 Water Marble

Check out my water warble manicure. Let me just say my first attempt was an EF ...epic fail! The design just wasn't forming in the water and the results just looked sloppy. This is my second attempt and although it's not totally cute I'm posting it because who really wants to do a water marble manicure 3x's? hahaha I mean the process of dripping one drop of polish into a cup one at a time and dipping your finger in it only to have to repeat the process for all 10 fingers is not exactly the fun est process in the world. I'm glad I have something to post for day 20 of the challenge and now it's on to the next... lol



 

 

Supplies used:

• Scotch tape ( 1 long piece to wrap the sides and underneath the nail.)
• Scotch tape (1 short piece to cover the skin above the nail.)
• 1 cup with warm water
• A thin dotting tool to draw the design in the water
• A pencil to remove the excess polish around the finger while still in the cup.
• Essie Soul Mate
• Essie Fiji
• OPI Top Coat

31 Day Challenge: Day 19 Galaxy Nails

 

Hello...today is Galzay Nails day on the 31 day nail challenge. To be honest I was kind of dreading this day because I felt it could have gone horribly wrong. Let's face it layering many colors over each other using sponging techniques can come out looking like a hot mess, but I actually like this mani!  The layers of glitter and shimmer are really captivating to me.

31 Day Challenge: Day 18 Half Moon

Today's challenge was to create a half moon manicure. Lately I've been into the clear/gel nail by the cuticle bed. I chose Essie Fiji which is a soft pink and Zoya Snow White for my ring finger. The top coat is by Color Club Covered in Diamonds and is quite fab. The half moon shape was made by using 3 ring paper reinforcement stickers.

31 Day Challenge: Day 17 Glitter

Hellloooo! Is everyone as excited for this as I am? Today is glitter day on the 31 day challenge. I decided on doing a stained glass glitter manicure which is inspired by My Simple Little Pleasure's blog I ended up using 5 different glitters for this mani and I wish my camera would have captured the stained glass effect better, but nooo - It was no mood. So I must apologize.  How you think it turned out?

I hope to post day 15 and 16 of the challenge soon.  Hollah :)

31 Day Challenge : Day 14 Flowers



Ok I finally had a chance to do the flowers theme of the 31 day challenge. This was my first time trying newspaper nail art and I really like how it turned out! I first applied 2 coats of Zoya Ginessa and waited for it to dry. Then, I dipped one finger into a cup of rubbing alcohol and transferred the newspaper directly onto my nail holding it down for a few seconds. I continued on until I had all 10 fingers done and it really didn't take up that much print from the paper. About 1 section is good enough. I stamped a red rose over the newspaper print for a cute vintage kind of feel.

31 Day Challenge: Day 12 Stripes

Hey hey today is stripes day in the 31 day nail challenge. I had this brainy idea last night to use bright green with black stripes. Oh Lord did it ever turn out bright green! haha The pattern is from the Wah book of nails. This was my first attempt at trying there design. It's kind of funky and too bright but what's a girl to do? These were my results...grab your sunglasses! ;p

31 Day Challenge: Day 11 Polka Dot

Happy Monday! Today is day 11 of the challenge and it's polka-dot. Woo hoo. Polka dot manis look cute in so many colors, red, black, pink....dude.... I could hardly decide. It was my purple bow that got me put down the red, black, or pink. hahaha! I ended up with this Japenese Deco Nails inspired mani. I think it turned out pretty cute!

31 Day Challenge: Day 10 Gradient Nails

The ever cool gradient nail has made its way to the 31 day challenge. Yay! Personally I love gradient manicures and think they look so nice. There are tons of tutorials online which makes achieving this look so easy. Today I wanted to try something a little different so I used my Layla Holos. Tell me what you think? 

 

 

Typically, I paint 2-3 stripes of color onto the flat end of the make-up sponge and then lay the sponge over my nail, but nooo these Layla polishes would not cooperate. The formula is so light and runny I ended up using jsut the corners of the sponge and still felt like I using up 1/2 the bottle.  Boo and hiss Ms. Layla. haha!

Day 10 Gradient Nails

31 Day Challenge: Day 9 Rainbow

Hello ladies. Today is day 9 of the 31 day challenge -Rainbow themed nails. I love the look of a color french tip mani so I decided to try a rainbow french design. It looks pretty interesting especially from a far. It's a very fun and festive mani.

31 Day Challenge: Day 5 Blue

Can you see the hibiscus flower? If you look closely there is a very faint image of a hibiscus flower that I stamped using a matte polish. To achieve this look I first applied Zoya Phoebe in matte. Then added a top coat which took away the matte finish. Once that was dried I stamped the hibiscus image using Zoya Phoebe in matte. Wah-Lah  this is what you get. This was my rookie attempt, but next time it will look better. What do you guys think? Funky?
